By 854: two tiers split by the bridge, blue cliffs, fir masses both sides. - **Refinement (999–1399):** firs gain shaped boughs (1064–1214); the falling water gains long vertical streaks; the bridge becomes a stone arch (1264–1364); small **travellers in straw hats** appear on the bridge (1314–1364) and on the path at the lower left (1164 onward). - **Touches (1399–1581):** tiny marks; a cream touch at frame 1534 lands on the water just under the bridge arch (uv 0.52, 0.597; x 0.52, y 0.40 from top). - **Final:** framing firs, deep blue cliffs, a two-tier white fall, an arched stone bridge with four hatted figures, white spray, two or three travellers on the path at the lower left.
